ALBUM REVIEWS : EVERYBODY WAS IN THE FRENCH RESISTANCE - FIXING THE CHARTS

Who the hell names his band Everybody was in the French resistance? A genius madman? Yes, something like that… The French Resistance (I’m not in the mood to type this name over and over so I’ll shorten it like that) are fronted by Eddie Argos (Art Brut) and Dylan Valdes (The Blood Arm).
On this album the band retrospect 40 years of popmusic and then in particular everything that went wrong, that’s why Eddie and Dylan are fixing the charts.
The great thing is that he’s on the right track unless you think U2, Michael Jackson (they correct the song to “the kid is your son”) or Avril Lavigne are untouchable Gods….Gods?, they’re not even angels!!!
The French Resistance are currently a bit seen as the darlings from the indiekids and in times where we miss our Kenickies, Disco Pistols, Bis, Dweebs or Girlfrendos, I can see the point.
Musically it’s like some indie-discoversion from The Fall added with more silliness (in fact I think they’re quite similar to I, Ludicrous but no one knows that band so) and that’s an rare thing these days. Don’t take it too seriously as I’m sure the band don’t do it themselves, it’s just the biggest fun you can get out of a record. Tip!
